Metylophorus Novaescotiae 2021

From Birth to Recognizability

Martha O'Kennon

On May 27, a batch of very young Barklouse nymphs showed up on the North Wall at panel 10 (picture 1). By the next day, their numbers had begun to thin out. Picture 2 is from May 30, and picture 3 on June 1. You can see how quickly they are growing and changing.

They were pretty mobile. Within days I was seeing them on panels 9 and 8 (pictures 2 and 3). Pictures are from June 6, 7, and 9th.

The first two here are nymphs from June 14, 2021. Third is a nymph with wings from June 20, 2015.

Here are a few more intermediate forms. Here is one with wings from June 23, 2015. Next is one with two sets of wings started from June 27, 2019. Third - finally one of our recent nymphs gained some wings on June 16, 2021.

Adults July 10, 2019; July 29, 2019; September 22, 2020.
